A Team That Talks

Teams that engage in safe, high-quality communication are strong and get stuff done.

Productive team dialogue doesn’t just happen. As leaders we have to consciously make space and give permission for it to happen. We can shape conversation and allow it to take our teams somewhere exciting.

This is also a way to naturally prevent some points of stickiness or conflict by leading for clarity and safety in communication, work through assumptions, and show your team how to advocate for themselves and each others’ voices and ideas.

And balance is essential. Conversations need enough enquiry to take concepts to new places, but not so much that the plan and the path aren’t clear.

When our teams are a strong collective communicative unit, it becomes easier to bring other groups and stakeholders along too.
