Three Important Reminders

lead with intention do it sustainably

Today, I’m focusing on three important reminders – as they have been ongoing themes with my clients in recent weeks.

Leadership is demanding-I get it. The pace of change is fast, the pressure is constant, and the need to make thoughtful decisions—often very quickly—never goes away. It is easy to get into a mindset of ‘once things slow down..’ – but this isn’t likely to happen. Instead, I encourage you to give some deep thought to how you are going to set yourself up to lead with intention, and to do this sustainably.

Here are some fundamental reminders to reflect on:

Protect Your Energy

You can’t lead effectively if you’re constantly drained. Set clear boundaries, create space for deep thinking, and build renewal into your routine—whether through exercise, rest, or simply stepping back to gain perspective. Prioritising what truly matters will help you bring steadiness and direction to your leadership.

Lead with Humility

You don’t have to have all the answers. The best leaders create environments where great ideas surface. Ask for feedback, acknowledge when you don’t know something, and show your team that learning never stops. When you model humility, you encourage curiosity, collaboration, and fresh thinking.

Empower Your Team

If everything depends on you, growth is limited. High-performing teams thrive when they have ownership, clear expectations, and the right support. Create a culture of trust and accountability by stepping back and allowing your team to take responsibility, make decisions, and contribute meaningfully (while, of course, demonstrating you have their backs).

Rather than waiting for stability (it is unlikely to come), focus on how you can support yourself to lead with a steady hand, with self-assurance, and a clear direction.

What’s one step you can take today to support yourself to lead with greater intention over the long term?

Stuck? Don’t stay stuck—that is what I’m here for! Reach out!
